Structured Settlement Claim For Being Fired From Job
The story of the fired police office Douglas Morello who has reached a settlement of $1.225M in compensation is making news today. It was reported by the Norwich Bulletin.
$800,000 will go to buy him a structured settlement annuity. The rest will go to his attorney.
Morello was reportedly fired about 5 years ago on claims of following a woman.
According to the lawsuit, however, he was diagnosed by psychiatrist Dr. Walid Jaziri with an anxiety disorder and OCD symptoms, not interfering with his ability to work.
Per the agreement that was reached this week Tuesday, the Norwich veteran police officer, $800,000 of the settlement money will be paid to an insurance company to issue him a structured settlement. Hee will be receiving periodic payments of $3,333 monthly for the next 20 years.
Morello claimed compensation for lost workdays, inability to be hired because of reputation damage, value of his pension and health benefits, as well as punitive damages.
His attorney, Jacques Parenteau's law firm, will receive $425,000.
